Community Colleges, junior colleges, private institutions and Universities are the different terms used for an education institution in different parts of the world. A Community College is basically bit cheaper than Universities and so it’s affordable for a student wanting to study abroad. Still the cost varies depending on whether the institution is public or private. Most of the Community Colleges are public in which it’s partially funded by citizen’s taxes. While the funding of a University is done by the state or by the fees that a student needs to pay in order to study in a university. Few believe there isn’t much difference between a Community College and a University while few feels that course in Community College is not lengthy just as in Universities it takes 4 years. Community College offers certificates for 2 year course which makes easy to enter into a job market. Community College offers affordable and high quality education which will fulfill the need of a student for specific career counseling. A Community college is also spaced all over the country in rural and urban areas. So students can opt for colleges near to their home while that of a university as it will in larger space. In Community Colleges, basically local students approach who couldn’t afford a university or they couldn’t relocate.

Basically the major difference between a Community College and University is the type of degree what they offer. As mentioned earlier a Community College offers a 2 year associate degree whereas a University offers degrees at bachelors or graduate level. Like in Australian education, the TEQSA is the independent national regulator for higher education sector while in US there’s no standardized definition for a university. In Canada, college is an institution which offers 2 year course while a university is a 4 year granting institution.  Research shows that employment outlook of people with an associate degree is fastest but few also feel that just an associate degree isn’t enough in today’s competitive market and so they opt for higher studies in Universities. Some colleges offer undergraduate programs while some offer bachelor’s degrees and associate degrees. Universities provides international students with undergraduate and graduate degrees which further lead to a master’s degree or Ph. D. Generally universities also provide more diverse offering than a college. Do visit your nearest Education guidance consultant to know more.
